Safe Homes Program

Helping our community stay safe, one home at a time.

The Houston Real Estate Association Community Development Corporation (HREA CDC) is proud to introduce the Safe Homes for Seniors and Disabled Residents Program, designed to support low-to-moderate income homeowners in need of critical home repairs.

Program Overview

This program provides up to $10,000 in emergency home repair assistance for qualifying homeowners who:

  • Are 65 years of age or older, or living with a documented disability;
  • Have a total household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI);
  • Own and occupy their home as their primary residence.

All repairs are performed by vetted and approved contractors who meet HREA CDC quality and insurance standards. Eligible repairs may include roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or other critical safety needs.

Program Guidelines

Funds are limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Submission of an application does not guarantee approval or funding.

All final funding decisions are made at the discretion of the HREA CDC Board of Directors.

Applicants must provide documentation to verify age, disability status (if applicable), proof of income, and property ownership.
